5 tips for selling a used carSelling your car can be a daunting experience but whether you’re selling privately or trading in a few simple steps will help you get the cash you’re looking for and increase your chances of selling quickly!

5 tips for selling your car

1. Car Wash

First impressions count so the most important thing you can do to improve the chances of selling your car is to have it spotlessly clean for any viewings – Spend at least 30 minutes before a viewing making sure you remove all the dirt, and don’t forget to hose down the under-body as well as inside the wheel arches.

2. Interior Clean

Give the windows a good polish (inside and out), hoover the carpets and seats and polish that dashboard! A clean looking (and smelling) interior will instantly improve a buyers opinion of your car!

3. De-clutter

Take all personal items out of the car – that means emptying door pockets, ash trays, clear the back seat, empty the glove box…. You may love that fluffy steering wheel cover but it could put potential buyers off! Don’t forget to empty the boot – and give the boot carpet the same attention as you’ve given the inside of the car!

4. Top-Up

Check the oil and coolant levels and top them up if needed. Make sure the washer bottle is full, and use some nicely scented washer fluid if you have it! Also make sure you have enough fuel for any test drives.

5. Wheels & Tyres

Check your tyre pressures! Give the sidewall of your tyres a quick rub of tyre shine to make them look new. If you’re missing any wheel trims either replace them, or take the others off!

A car that looks well cared for will always be worth more € so a few well spent minutes of your time could make you some extra cash towards your new wheels!  Good luck with the sale!
