Modern and sporty the new Adam is the latest addition to the Opel family and will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September. This new city car will arrive in Ireland early 2013.
Taking design cues from the Fiat 500, Citroen’s DS5 and the Mini this is Opel’s first urban car engineered and produced in Germany. Stretching almost 3.7 metres in length and 1.72m in width, Adam is slightly longer than the VW Up and wider than the Mini.
Three petrol engines will offered a 1.2-litre with 69 bhp and two 1.4-litres, one with 86 bhp and one with 99 bhp. A five speed manual gearbox will be available with each.
Rather than having the well-known trim levels, customers can choose from three different highly individualised trims: the unconventional and fashionable Adam Jam, elegant and sophisticated Adam Glam and the sporty, energetic Adam Slam.
Adam will be available with a new state-of-the-art infotainment system that not only brings its owner’s smartphone capabilities to the vehicle but also adds further value to them, offering even more convenience and flexibility than a conventional system. The new system is compatible for Apple iOS software and Android operating systems.
A high level of passive safety is ensured by an ultra-rigid passenger cell mainly made from high-strength steel. This is complemented by front, side and head curtain airbags as well as Dual Seat Belt Pre-tensioners at the front seats which offer additional knee and leg protection.
