Audi e-tron GT

Arriving in summer 2021, the 100% electric Audi e-tron GT is the flagship model for the brand

With a stunning exterior and luxurious interior, there is much to like about the all-electric Audi e-tron GT writes Geraldine Herbert

Why you will like it? Designed to set pulses racing the all-electric e-tron GT is according to Audi a ‘game-changer’.

Is it a looker? On the outside it is beautifully sculptured with sleek lines and a dynamic profile.

How far can I go on a single charge? The range of 479km and the 0-100km speed of just 4.1 seconds is more than sufficient.   Reassuringly, all e-tron GTs are equipped with 800-volt technology that enables fast DC charging including just five minutes for a distance of approximately 100km and roughly 22.5minutes to bring the battery from 5% back up to 80%. The charging flaps are located behind the front wheels. Both sides feature connections for alternating current (AC) and there is also a connection for direct current (DC) on the right-hand side.

What’s it like inside? Inside it is sublimely beautiful and it is the sophisticated touches that are recalled long after the drive. In the tradition of a grand tourer, the focus is on travelling long distances in comfort and the cabin is ideal for long journeys while the rear-seat room will appease even the tallest of passengers.

What’s it like to drive? Press the start button and the driving experience is serene and while on quiet back roads you can most appreciate the sharp steering and handling it also soaks up motorway miles effortlessly.

How safe is it? The E-tron GT has not yet been tested by the EuroNCAP but it does come with a host of active and passive safety tech including adaptive cruise assist, which combines the functions of adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and active lane assist.

Specification highlights include 19” alloys, quattro with e-torque vectoring, a panoramic glass
sunroof and front and rear parking sensors.

Will it break the bank? Priced from €102,370, Audi’s e-tron GT is not cheap. there is also a more powerful RS model that accelerates from zero to 100km in just 3.3 seconds but comes with a reduced range and an increased price.

Our Rating? Audi’s e-tron GT is an intoxicating blend of comfort, functionality and offers the kind of performance the discerning driver craves. Audi has certainly raised the bar for all-electric cars.

The Good: Stunning on the outside, exquisite on the inside
The Gripes: Very pricey
