Find the perfect family car to suit your budget writes Geraldine Herbert

Buying a family car can be a difficult and daunting task; from the practical considerations such as family size, type of driving, safety and fuel economy, to kerb appeal and driving dynamics. And then there is the issue of finance do you go along to the credit union, take out a bank loan or opt for a personal contract plan at the local dealership?

To aid you in your search we have categorised the best selling cars on Irish roads into price range and type so within each group you will find a small family car, large car, a people carrier and an SUV/Crossover. All finance details are based on a 20% deposit unless otherwise stated and  over a three year period.  As rates vary from branch to branch the credit union rate quoted is the average Car Loan rate offered in 2015.
