Six Things to Know About Travelling with Your Dog

Travelling with your dog can be a fun experience, but safety and comfort should always come first. Here are six essential tips to ensure your furry friend stays secure and happy on the road.

1️⃣ Restraint is Essential for Safety
An unrestrained dog can become a dangerous projectile in a crash. Secure your pet to protect them—and everyone else in the car.

2️⃣ Choose the Right Safety Gear
Use a seatbelt harness for medium/large dogs, a secured carrier for smaller pets, or a sturdy crate for larger breeds. Safety first!

3️⃣ Start Travel Training Early
Introduce car rides when they’re young. If they only associate travel with the vet, take short, fun trips to help them adjust.

4️⃣ Make Car Rides Comfortable
Bring familiar comforts like blankets or toys. Feed them lightly a few hours before travel to prevent upset stomachs.

5️⃣ Plan for Breaks & Hydration
On long trips, stop regularly for water and bathroom breaks. Never leave your dog in a parked car, especially in warm weather.

6️⃣ Car Features Matter
If you travel often with your dog, look for cars with low-load floors, water-resistant interiors, and pet-friendly features like Tesla’s “Dog Mode.”
