We asked you to vote for your Ultimate Chick Car. The results have been counted and we reveal the wheelsforwomen.ie Ultimate Chick Car!
And the winner is…the Range Rover Evoque!
Coming in just a whisker ahead of the Volkswagen New Beetle, the Range Rover Evoque has taken the wheelsforwomen.ie Ultimate Chick Car crown.
The lady-like cousin of the classic, mud-slinging 4×4 is stylish and sleek, but it’s still a practical beast. In fact, it’s everything a girl could wish for! The Range Rover Evoque burst onto the motoring scene in 2011. The car was so popular that there were waiting lists to own it; supply could not meet the demand for this car in the months after its release. Starting at a little over €40,000, the Evoque is not cheap, but it still manages to find a place on the desire list for many females.
So what makes the Evoque the ultimate girly car? For many of our readers it was the association with Victoria Beckham that upped its chick car appeal. In 2012, she was asked to lend a creative hand to the design of a special edition of the car. The standard Evoque was given a matt grey exterior paint job and a contrasting gloss black roof, 20-inch black alloys with rose-gold detailing, and inside tan leather seats and luxury mohair mats. Asking a high profile woman to give the car a little help in the style stakes is surely a sign of its feminine appeal!
Many SUVs these days can look clumsy but the Evoque manages to combine practicality with style. Our readers all agreed that the Evoque was one good-looking car that they wouldn’t mind being seen behind the wheel of.
Let’s not forget that the Evoque was also voted the 2012 Women’s World Car of the Year for its appeal to women. The decision was made by an all-female jury of which wheelsforwomen.ie founder Geraldine Herbert was a member.
The Evoque is not small, it’s not cute, it’s not exceptionally curvy and it’s definitely not a convertible but maybe our perception of what makes a chick car is beginning to grow up a bit.
If you asked the question what defines a chick car in 2013, maybe the Evoque is it.
