What is the issue with the Opel Zafira?

A man in Cork was about to board a ferry from Passage West to Cobh when the dashboard of his Opel Zafira car caught fire.


Have there been other similar incidents?

Yes, Opel have confirmed in total there has been 8 similar incidents.


What Opel Zafira models could be affected?

According to Opel there are 8,000 Opel Zafira model B cars on Irish roads, these are Zafiras bought between 2005 and 2014. The current 2015 model is not affected.


I own one of these cars so what should I do?

Visit Opel Customer Support to determine whether your car is in included in this group or not. If it is take it to your local Opel dealer who will check it over. If any of the parts relating to this issue need replacing, Opel will do so at no cost to the customer.


My car is a Vauxhall Zafira so can I take it to my local Opel dealer?

Yes, all cars affected including those bought in the UK or imported will be inspected, free of charge, by your local dealer


Will Opel issue a recall?

It is still to early to identify the root cause of the incidents so ongoing investigations continue, until the cause is identified there will be no recall
