World Cup 2018? How to stay sane and survive the World Cup

no_footballIf the thought of endless matches and interminable replays sends you into a boredom-induced coma there are ways to avoid soccer between June 14 and July 15 – you just need to use a little bit of imagination.

 1)      The great outdoors
Why not sample the gourmet treats on show at Taste of Dublin or unleash your hidden artist at the
Hinterland Festival of Literature and Arts in Kells.

 2)      Retail therapy
Indulge in some retail therapy but stay away from electrical shops where they will  be showing the matches on several big screens.

 3)      Flee the country
Hope on a plane and go anywhere –  but perhaps Russia isn’t the best destination nor most of the other competing countries.

 4)      Learn a language
As above  anything as long as its not Russian.

5)      Join a gym
You can pound the treadmill and lose weight while football fans pile on the pounds at the pub or on the sofa.

 6)      Rent a Chick-Flick
Let’s face it TV is to be avoided. If they’re not playing it, they’ll be talking about it.

7)      Serenade the Neighbours
Buy the One Direction back catalogue to play at full blast, it will certainly drown out the football commentary.

 8)             Road Trip
For the ultimate Thelma and Louise style road trip take on the Wild Atlantic Way, this 2,500km route from Donegal to Cork, is rugged, untamed and stunning.

9)         The Need for Speed
Rev it up in Mondello, get behind the wheel of a Porsche and enjoy the  Super car experience. Try it once and you’ll never look back- except maybe at the headlights in your mirrors.
