Suzanne Keane checks out the latest\u00a0commercial\u00a0offering from\u00a0Mitsubishi, the Outlander Business<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

What is it?<\/strong>\u00a0The new Mitsubishi Outlander was given a facelift\u00a0late in 2015 and\u00a0this new “Business” model offers all that the passenger version does albeit with just 2 seats and plenty of space in the back.<\/p>\n

Who is it aimed at?<\/strong>\u00a0The Outlander Business is set to take on the competitive commercial 4×4 market with proven off-roading skills and plenty of space for goods.<\/p>\n

Styling?<\/strong>\u00a0The Business version of the Mitsubishi Outlander looks just like the Passenger model with tinted rear windows hiding the rear compartment.<\/p>\n

Under the Bonnet?<\/strong>\u00a0Our test car was powered by a 2.2L diesel engine with 4WD<\/p>\n

What about inside?<\/strong>\u00a0I was really impressed with the spec level on the 7 seater passenger\u00a0model of the Outlander so was a little disappointed when I climbed into the commercial version – while it has the same space and overall finish the little luxuries such as leather seats and reversing camera were missing. However, once you’re on the road these differences aren’t noticeable and the rear side doors make loading up easy.<\/p>\n

On the Road?<\/strong>\u00a0The Outlander Business drives just like a passenger version although with slightly more road noise. It’s a very big vehicle and while the 2.2L engine has sufficient power it won’t set your heart racing.\u00a0Off-road it’s extremely capable and had no problems driving\u00a0around a muddy field in Co. Kerry and despite spending more than 1000km in the driver’s seat it was very comfortable.<\/p>\n

And Safety?<\/strong>\u00a0The Mitsubishi Outlander Business has a 5 star Euro NCAP rating and comes with 7 airbags, Active Stability, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist and ABS with EBD.<\/p>\n

Options?<\/strong>\u00a0Our test car was an Outlander Business 2.2 DI-D 4WD with no optional extras.<\/p>\n

Will it break the bank?<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a02 seater Outlander Business starts from \u20ac25,445 ex VAT and will cost just \u20ac333 to tax commercially (subject to T&Cs) and will consume an average of 5.3L\/100km.<\/p>\n

Verdict?<\/strong>\u00a0The Outlander Business is extremely capable on and off-road and from the outside looks just like any other Outlander – however, a few luxury goodies added to the specification would make it a much more comfortable car.<\/p>\n

Why you\u2019ll buy one?<\/strong>\u00a0Off-roading abilities & 5 year warranty<\/p>\n

Why you won\u2019t?<\/strong>\u00a0Engine can be quite noisy on start-up<\/p>\n
