Mairead Ronan<\/p><\/div>\n

We talk cars with Mair\u00e9ad Ronan\u00a0a producer with Today FM and a TV presenter.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Your current car –<\/strong> Love at first sight or just a means to get from A to B? <\/strong>My current car is a Renault Captur, she\u2019s like a best friend, I love her.<\/p>\n

What does it say about you<\/strong>– It says, I\u2019m sporty, fun, but always reliable!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s under the bonnet? <\/strong>My Captur has a 1.5 diesel engine so it is great, especially for long distance travel. I forget I\u2019m driving a diesel as even though it\u2019s a powerful car, the steering is light and there\u2019s no big surge when changing gears. It\u2019s brilliant on fuel also, I can never remember when I\u2019ve filled up as a full tank lasts so long!<\/p>\n

Petrol head or Sunday driver?<\/strong> I\u2019m a Sunday driver. I start work at 6 am so my journey to work at 5.40 am is usually\u00a0 just me and some road cleaners. I like taking my time for those 20 minutes each day.<\/p>\n

What was your first car?<\/strong> A 1995 navy blue\u00a0 Ford Fiesta, it was a great little car but I could never park her, ever.<\/p>\n

Dream drive in dream location?<\/strong> I recently drove from LA to Vegas. \u00a0I\u2019ll admit I was nervous for the first half hour but after that I loved it but dream location is The Californian coastal drive<\/p>\n

Do you have a favourite car gadget?<\/strong> I love to have a \u00a0reversing camera (how did I ever reverse without it) and built in sat nav and removable wipeable seat covers, it is so handy to be able to whip them off and throw them into the washing machine, something I image I will be doing regularly when the new baby arrives!<\/p>\n

Who taught you to drive?<\/strong> My poor dad tried and failed so I leaned from the Irish School of motoring …eventually.<\/p>\n

Whom do you most admire in your profession?<\/strong> I\u2019m lucky in saying that I\u2019ve \u00a0worked with some of the people I most admire in broadcasting (Ian Dempsey and Ray D\u2019Arcy) But someone who I\u2019ve always enjoyed and admired is Marian Finucane, \u00a0definitely \u00a0a \u00a0hero of mine.<\/p>\n

What was your best career decision to date?<\/strong> Saying yes to everything that was asked of me in the early days in Today FM… (Gosh that sounds rude) But even when I\u2019d done\u00a0 a full shift and was exhausted someone could ask me to post 15 prizes and I\u2019d just say \u201csure no problem\u201d.\u00a0 I had decided to be like this in the early days and it definitely paid off.<\/p>\n

What is on your car stereo right now?<\/strong> Today FM \u2013 always ! or else I play Beyonce\u2019s Lemonade album through my blue tooth<\/p>\n

One item you couldn’t live without?<\/strong> \u00a0Most people say their iphone but I couldn\u2019t live without a bra. Keeps the girls in place every day for me.<\/p>\n

How do you relax?<\/strong> Currently pregnant so I like to put the feet up , cup of strong tea and a mint aero<\/p>\n

Passenger you\u2019d most like on a long journey?<\/strong> Either my husband Louis\u00a0 or Roger Federer \u2013 I\u2019ve been in love with him for years<\/p>\n

Passenger you\u2019d least like?<\/strong> Anne Hathaway \u2013 I can\u2019t explain it. She irritates me like a scratchy woolly jumper.<\/p>\n
