2017 VW Golf<\/p><\/div>\n

Volkswagen has revealed details about the latest version of its Golf due here early next year writes Geraldine Herbert<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As with most new Golfs you will struggle to spot the difference from the outside but changes include new bumpers and front wings\u00a0 plus LED taillights across the range.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There is a new petrol engine under the bonnet a 1.5 TSI that promises to be super efficient<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will now be available in place of the old six speed.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Enhanced technology improvements include Gesture Control, once the preserve of high-end luxury cars this allows you to control the infotainment system by waving your hand in front of it.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New driveless features are also debuting including Traffic jam assist that\u00a0will semi-autonomously drive the car for you in low-speed traffic. The system controls the accelerator, brakes and steering.<\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If you like a like your Golfs fast you will be delighted to know that the GTi just got faster and now produces 227bhp, up from the 217bhp of the current model.<\/p>\n

7)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Active Info Display is now an optional extra; \u00a0this is essentially Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and it replaces traditional instruments with a multi-mode screen.<\/p>\n

8)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The revised Golf models – three-door, five-door, GT, GTI, GTE and estate – are due to arrive in Ireland from\u00a0April 2017.<\/p>\n
