\"\"<\/a>Two years in a row Electric cars have scooped the title of European car of the year. Following in the steps of Nissan\u2019s Leaf the Ampera, an electric car from Opel was named European Car of the Year by automotive journalists from 23 countries on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show<\/p>\n

The Opel Ampera can run completely on electric power for a distance of between 40 and 80 kilometers, depending how you drive and from then onwards the electricity generated from an on-board 1.4-litre petrol engine gives a total range of about 500 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The Ampera won\u2019t go on sale here until the Autumn and early indications are that it is not going to be a cheap to buy. We\u2019ll keep you posted as to prices closer to the time and we will be adding an electric cars guide to the site over the next few weeks.
