The Women’s World Car of the Year is pleased to announce the appointment of the first Irish judge to the international voting panel for 2012 and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Geraldine Herbert (Ireland)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Geraldine Herbert has been a motoring journalist for over ten years and is currently the Editor of Motoring Life, Ireland\u2019s longest-established motoring magazine.<\/p>\n

On International Women\u2019s Day 2012, she launched www.wheeslforwomen.ie<\/a> Ireland\u2019s first motoring website for women.<\/p>\n

She is a jury member for the annual Irish Car of the Year awards and has written on a range of motoring issues for a number of publications. She is also a regular contributor on motoring matters to radio.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“I am both honoured and excited to be part of the Women\u2019s World Car of the Year jury and applaud the voting criteria that is genuinely inspired by what women want to know before they buy a car.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese awards go a long way to bridging the gender gap for women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geraldine is also a mother to two small boys and says she has come to learn the \u201creal\u201d meaning of compromise by juggling a love of performance cars with the need for space, practicality and function.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0CEO of Women’s World Car of the Year Limited, Sandy Myhre of New Zealand, says the inclusion of an Irish judge adds an important international dimension to the awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 2012 Women’s World Car of the Year awards were announced in April.\u00a0 The Range Rover Evoque won both the luxury car segment and captured the overall supreme award.\u00a0 The Porsche 911 won the Sports Car of the Year, the BMW 3 Series won the Family Car of the Year title and the Honda Civic won the Economy Car of the Year for 2012.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The supreme award trophy and the category-winner certificates will this year be presented at the Mondial de l’Automobile \u2013 The Paris Motor Show – in late September.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
