Mazda gives the CX-5 a subtle upgrade writes Suzanne Keane<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it?\u00a0<\/strong>The CX-5 is Mazda\u2019s bestselling car in Europe and has been revamped for 2015 with a few subtle exterior changes but the most obvious developments have been made inside the cabin. This has been completely redesigned with better quality materials, a wider centre console and vastly improved connectivity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First impressions of the Mazda CX-5?<\/strong>\u00a0Outside there are now LED headlights, smaller door mirrors, redesigned tail lights and a bolder grille with grey fins but underneath the changes are more radical and \u00a0the suspension has also been upgraded and higher levels of sound insulation improve cabin noise ingress by 13%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What about the interior?\u00a0<\/strong>Inside a 7\u201d touchscreen is now standard and sat-nav is available as an additional option. \u00a0All controls are within easy reach of the driver and the finish has a premium feel but with materials that seem durable and should stand the test of time. Upgrade to Platinum and you\u2019ll also get a Bose surround sound system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/CX_31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10664\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/CX_31.jpg\" alt=\"CX_3\" width=\"850\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/CX_31.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/CX_31-300x149.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>And behind the wheel?\u00a0<\/strong>The CX-5 has always been great to drive and the new version does not disappoint. The suspension may have been adjusted for comfort so it now happily soaks up bumps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CX-5 in the city: <\/strong>Despite feeling very spacious inside the CX-5 was easily manoeuvred around the narrow streets of Sitges. Inside the cabin it\u2019s refined and quiet and smooth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CX-5 on the open road:\u00a0<\/strong>We took the 2.0 (160hp) AWD 6 Speed Manual CX-5 for a spin on the winding coast road between Sitges and Barcelona where it felt right at home. It handled the bends very well and was also a comfortable cruiser when the road straightened out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How Much?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Prices start at \u20ac27,995 for the petrol version and the diesel starts at \u20ac30,495.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What about my options:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Offered in front and all-wheel drive versions, there will be three trim levels available in Ireland \u2013 Executive, Executive SE and Platinum.
