{"id":11983,"date":"2015-06-26T20:52:34","date_gmt":"2015-06-26T19:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/?p=11983"},"modified":"2015-06-26T20:53:30","modified_gmt":"2015-06-26T19:53:30","slug":"the-year-in-figures-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/index.php\/the-year-in-figures-so-far\/","title":{"rendered":"The Year in Figures so far &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/152.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11985\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/152.jpg\" alt=\"152\" width=\"850\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/152.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/152-300x60.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>As we approach the start of the 152 registrations we take a look back at the year so far writes Geraldine Herbert<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the first five months of the year there was a 26% increase in new cars licensed in comparison with the same period last year<\/li>\n<li>To the end of May this year, 80,892 new private cars have been licensed, up from 63,993 in 2014.<\/li>\n<li>Sales are very likely to exceed 100,000 by the end of the year the first time since 2008.<\/li>\n<li>Volkswagen maintained its position as Ireland\u2019s favourite car manufacturer with a 12.59% market share ahead of Ford, Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan.<\/li>\n<li>The most popular new car is the Volkswagen Golf followed by the Ford Focus, Nissan\u2019s Qashqai, the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Octavia.<\/li>\n<li>Electric cars are also up by almost 160% with 310 sold in the first five months of this year compared with only 120 in the same period last year.<\/li>\n<li>When it comes to colour we are a conservative bunch.
