Also convertibles tend to be more expensive during the summer months but it\u2019s a great time to get a bargain 4&#215;4.<\/li>\n<li>Remember when you opt for a nearly new car it is technically second-hand, so will always have one extra owner on its records.<\/li>\n<li>You may miss out on the best finance deals as nearly cars may be excluded from some of the attractive finance packages extended to brand new cars.<\/li>\n<li>When you buy a pre-registered, demo or ex-hire car one everything from the colour, seats and stereo will have already been selected.<\/li>\n<li>Some cars hold up better over time than others so do your research.<\/li>\n<li>When it comes to buying always negotiate the total price rather than a monthly repayment. Often monthly or weekly repayments can conceal an expensive deal. Also you&#8217;ll need to factor in running costs, insurance cover, warranties and breakdown cover &#8211; so don&#8217;t overstretch yourself and ask the dealer about any hidden fees or costs.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t be afraid to haggle before making any car purchase and agreeing on a finance deal. Obviously the more money you are spending on the car the greater the scope for manoeuvring. If you can&#8217;t secure a discount then don&#8217;t under estimate the value of some free optional extras instead.<\/li>\n<li>Always give the impression that you are still undecided.
