However a 6.5\u201d touchscreen sets off the centre of the dashboard and there\u2019s plenty of space for 5. As you\u2019d expect from an estate there\u2019s loads of boot space and the load height is quite low \u2013 ideal for carrying loads or just bringing the dogs to the park!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13949\" style=\"width: 860px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13949\" class=\"wp-image-13949 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC_0343.jpg\" alt=\"VW Golf Estate\" width=\"850\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC_0343.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC_0343-300x144.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DSC_0343-768x369.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13949\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Brushed silver detailing on the VW Golf Estate dashboard<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>On the Road?<\/strong> On the road estate drives like any other Golf \u2013 agile and smooth \u2013 however the 1.6TDI engine won\u2019t break any speed records and the engine is quite noisy at start-up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And Safety?<\/strong> As you\u2019d expect from a Golf there are plenty of safety features as standard and the car tested had adaptive cruise control which is an essential option if you spend lots of time on motorways \u2013 it will also alert you if traffic ahead stops suddenly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Options?<\/strong> The model tested was a Comfortline 1.6TDI DSG which comes with 16\u201d alloys, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, Bluetooth, 6.5\u201d touchscreen, air conditioning, daytime running lights and start\/stop technology. This car also had the Free Technology pack which added parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, media in for linking to your mp3 player, light assist which automatically dips headlights for oncoming vehicles and the lights\/vision pack.
