\nWith January coming to an end many of us will have given up on those healthy New Year\u2019s Resolutions but how about making a resolution to learn some new skills in 2016 writes Suzanne Keane<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When it comes to driver training there are plenty of options available across the country to suit all budgets some of which are listed below.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rally School
\n<\/strong>Rally School Ireland is based in Co. Monaghan and offers training for drivers of all ages and abilities starting with pre-teens (10+) who can take part in the Junior Rally Experience with packages starting at \u20ac130 per person. These packages include safety training followed by 2 rally stages in a Ford Ka. Budding rally drivers can get out on a track for 24 laps with a range of cars to choose from or you could combine the rally experience with drifting for a full day\u2019s track fun. However If you already know it all their Race & Chase package could be a great day\u2019s entertainment for petrol head friends (\u20ac550) and don\u2019t worry, your significant other can relax with a spa treatment while you\u2019re out on track with couples getaway packages starting from \u20ac350 including overnight accommodation. Mondello Park
\n<\/strong>Just outside Dublin, Mondello Park offers a wide range of options for drivers of all ages and skills. If Formula 1 gets your heart racing packages start from \u20ac199 which will get you out on the track in a single seater racing car following instruction laps in a race prepped Saloon car. They also offer Supercar experiences with a choice of cars such as a Porsche Boxster S or 911 with prices starting at \u20ac119. The Pro Drift academy is also based at Mondello and for \u20ac139 anyone age 13 or over can learn how to drift in a Nissan 180S or 350Z and if you\u2019re dreaming of just getting out on the track they offer Track Day training for cars and motorbikes. Nervous drivers are also catered to with the Advanced Car Control course which will provide you with the necessary skills to control a car in adverse weather conditions with prices starting from \u20ac150. Off-Roading
\n<\/strong>While some of us dream of the open road others want to get dirty and Off Road Driving at Palmerstown House will get you rolling in the mud from \u20ac59 per person. Stunt Driving
\n<\/strong>The Stunt Driving School in Co. Wicklow is run by Movie stuntman veteran Brendan Condren and offers 1 day packages starting from \u20ac199 per person where you can learn how to pull handbrake turns, Parallel park at speed and try out a high speed reverse slalom in a safe and controlled environment. They say their packages are about participants doing most of the driving and getting as much car time as possible but the most popular Full Day Adrenaline package (from \u20ac249) also includes a passenger ride in a high speed cat and mouse chase. \n<\/strong>Where safety is your priority the IAMI offer training on a range of courses aimed at professional drivers such as Defensice Driving, Chauffeur & VIP driving and can also offer screening for new employees where driving is a key component of a job. Learn to drive
\n<\/strong>If you have a teenager who can\u2019t wait to get on the road Leinster Driving Campus offer Summer Camps for 14-17 year olds where they will learn about the Rules of the Road, experience how alcohol and drugs can affect driver awareness using specially designed \u201cbeer goggles\u201d, discover how to perform safety checks on a car and finally get out on the private road network with a driving instructor to put their new skills to the test. The summer camp costs \u20ac55\/day and half day courses are also offered for TY students with prices starting from \u20ac40 per student. If you already have your full licence they offer skid control or advanced driving courses (from \u20ac99) but if your dream is to get out on the road on 2 wheels they offer Motorcycle taster lessons for \u20ac100. Refresher Course
\n<\/strong>Nervous or newly qualified drivers can learn to negotiate motorways with Skilz Driving Academy who have instructors at various locations in the north and east of the country.
