\nOur Suzanne Keane has some practical advice for those heading to\u00a0Co Offaly for the\u00a0national championships<\/em>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Traffic<\/strong> \u2013 All routes to the National Ploughing Championships are well signposted and you\u2019ll be\u00a0<\/span>directed to the nearest car park once you get close to the site. Check out what the usual travel time\u00a0<\/span>from your home would be and double it to make sure you get there on time but be prepared for\u00a0<\/span>sitting in traffic for at least 45 minutes!<\/span><\/p>\n

Footwear<\/strong> \u2013 While wellies may be the shoes of choice for the majority of people attending the\u00a0<\/span>National Ploughing Championships it\u2019s important to keep in mind you\u2019ll be on your feet all day and\u00a0<\/span>doing plenty of walking so if you don\u2019t have a supportive pair of wellies you may be better off with\u00a0<\/span>waterproof walking boots.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exhibitors<\/strong> \u2013 Ploughing is the main focus of the event in Offaly but if you\u2019re anything like me you\u2019ll\u00a0<\/span>spend your time wandering around all the exhibition stands to see what goodies are on offer! If\u00a0<\/span>there\u2019s anything in particular you want to see be sure to make a note of the exact location so you\u00a0<\/span>don\u2019t have to retrace your steps if you miss it \u2013 remember the site is huge!! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Toilets<\/strong> \u2013 There are plenty of toilets scattered around the site in Tullamore this year but for the\u00a0<\/span>ultimate in luxury avoid the porta-potty section and try out the cabin style toilet blocks at the end of r<\/span>ow 16! Either way it\u2019s advantageous to bring some wipes and tissue with you just in case!<\/span><\/p>\n

Entertainment<\/strong> \u2013 If you get tired of the exhibitions & trade stands, sheep dog trials, sheep shearing,<\/span>livestock displays or the actual ploughing there\u2019s tractor football taking place all day near Catering\u00a0<\/span>Area C right next to the amusements or you can venture to the other end of the site to experience\u00a0<\/span>just what Volkswagen\u2019s new Amarok V6 can do off-road for yourself!<\/span><\/p>\n

Food<\/strong> \u2013 There\u2019s so much choice around the site don\u2019t settle for the first stand you come across but be\u00a0<\/span>prepared for long queues from about 12 pm onwards – Also, if you\u2019ve got little ones with you the\u00a0<\/span>baby changing and feeding facilities are based in row 10 this year!<\/span><\/p>\n
