\"\"<\/a>Maintaining your car\u2019s oil level is essential to ensuring the condition of your vehicle and your safety while driving writes Geraldine Herbert<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Failure to maintain the correct oil level and carry out the necessary oil\/filter changes can result in extensive and costly engine damage.<\/p>\n

Checking the level of the oil in your engine is a very important safety check that you can do easily yourself. Driving with a level that\u2019s too low or two high is unsafe, so to check it, use a dipstick. Engine oil should be maintained between the maximum mark and minimum oil mark on the oil dipstick. The dipstick is usually found under the hood, if there isn\u2019t one, consult your car\u2019s manual to find out how you can check the oil.<\/p>\n

Remember, a yellow-orange oil can light on your dashboard means your oil level is low, while a red oilcan light means your oil pressure is low and you should pull over your car as soon as it is safe to do so.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t wait for the red oil pressure warning light to come on \u2013 check the engine oil dipstick level today. The oil level should be checked on a regular basis and especially before setting off on long journeys.<\/p>\n
