While it may be less attractive than its hatchback and sports tourer siblings once you\u2019re behind the wheel it feels identical and with 130bhp under the bonnet it won\u2019t be left behind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Styling?\u00a0<\/strong>While there are touches of coupe styling in keeping with the name it does\u00a0seem a little like the ugly duckling of the family. However, the 3D tail lights set off the\u00a0rear end and the panoramic glass roof enhances the side view &#8211; giving a sportier feel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under the Bonnet?\u00a0<\/strong>The 110bhp diesel engine is available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. Our test car was a 130bhp 1.6 dCi diesel which is just available as a manual and will do 0-100kmph in 10.5 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What about inside?<\/strong>\u00a0Inside the spacious cabin there\u2019s an 8.7\u201d colour instrument display and R-Link 2 connectivity system. Seats are comfortable and there\u2019s plenty of legroom. The new model Megane is longer, lower and wider than the outgoing car and, as a result, has more interior space. Passengers in particular, benefit from a 2cm increase in rear knee space and the boot volume is a very generous 550 litres (compared to 434 litres in the hatchback). The multi-sense system changes the interior lighting to match the selected driving mode with red lighting enhancing the<br \/>\nsport driving mode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What about options?\u00a0<\/strong>The entry level Expression Megane GC comes with Air Conditioning, Bluetooth and LED daytime running lights. The Dynamique Nav trim has automatic headlights and wipers, a hands-free key card, 7\u201d touchscreen, 17\u201d alloys and rear parking sensors. The next level Dynamique S Nav will upgrade you to an 8.7\u201d touchscreen and rear parking camera with front and rear parking sensors, a leather steering wheel and hands-free boot opening. The Signature Nav model tested came with 18\u201d alloy wheels, full LED headlights and a black leather interior. The car tested was also fitted with the optional panoramic glass roof.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18174\" style=\"width: 435px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/00117088.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18174\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18174\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/00117088.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/00117088.jpg 425w, https:\/\/www.wheelsforwomen.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/00117088-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-18174\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The cabin is bright and airy<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>On the Road?\u00a0<\/strong> The Megane Grand Coupe is smooth and economical on the road and the 130bhp diesel engine gives plenty of oomph when required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And Safety?<\/strong> \u00a0The Megane has a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and safety systems include Adaptive Cruise Control; Active Emergency Braking; Lane Departure, Blind Spot and Safe Distance warnings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will it break the bank?<\/strong>\u00a0The Megane Grand Coupe starts at \u20ac21,990 for a dCi 110 diesel Expression model rising to \u20ac29,490 for a 110bhp automatic version. The model tested was a Signature Nav dCi 130 which (with options) will cost \u20ac29,490 (optional extra panoramic sunroof \u20ac1,000).
