What is it?<\/b> The T-Roc is the latest in Volkswagen’s SUV offensive and is designed to appeal to young, trendy buyers.<\/span><\/p>\n

First impressions of the new VW T-Roc?<\/b>\u00a0Buying a new car is much like starting a relationship, it has little if anything to do with the brain and everything to do with the heart. In the fiercely\u00a0competitive SUV market Volkswagen need a Cupid like aim to win fans for their new T-Roc.<\/span><\/p>\n

What about the interior? <\/b>While stylish and upmarket VW are not known for radical design statements and it lacks the funky appeal of Toyota’s CH-R or the quirkiness of the Citro\u00ebn C3 Aircross\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Under the bonnet? <\/b>A brief test drive in the 1.5 TSI engine confirms it hits all the right notes – with 150bhp, and a 0-100 of 8.4 seconds – it may not be getaway speed but it has enough oomph to transport your family at a decent pace. <\/span><\/p>\n

And on the road? <\/b>Still more engaging is the way in which the car handles. On the road the T-Roc shines and is very good to drive. There is a bit of harsh wind and road noise at motorway speed but overall is fun and lively.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHow Much? <\/b>Prices range from \u20ac24,750 to \u20ac36,395 and the T-Roc comes in three trims, a standard T-Roc version, Design and Sport with a choice of three engines – two petrols \u2013 a 1.0l 115hp TSI, or a 1.5 150hp model. A 2.0 TDI 4motion is the only diesel option available now but a 1.6l will be offered later in the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Safe?<\/b> The T-Roc not only emerged from Euro NCAP’s industry standard crash tests with a full<\/span> five-star rating, it was deemed to be the safest small off roader tested in 2017. What is even more impressive, is that these tests were all conducted with standard equipment as there was no optional safety equipment included.<\/span><\/p>\n

First thoughts of the T-Roc?\u00a0<\/b><\/span>So who is likely to take the plunge and fall for the charms of the T-Roc. From small families looking for something a little snazzier than a hatchback to style-conscious empty nesters it should certainly appeal. On paper small compact SUVs offer little more than hatchbacks in the way of space or practicality but there is still something very alluring about them. The smart looks of the T-Roc are matched by very impressive driving dynamics and this is where the T-Roc probably does leap ahead of the competition. <\/span><\/p>\n
