Nowadays there\u2019s a decent amount of choice for any driver seeking a new electric or hybrid car, while the increasing production means the second-hand market is also home to many greener vehicles.<\/p>\n

Whatever your budget as well, it\u2019s now possible to find options<\/a> that don\u2019t break the bank to six-figure supercars. Plus, there are various ways to afford a new or used environmentally friendly car, such as leasing or arranged payment plans with the car dealership.<\/p>\n

Tesla Model S<\/strong><\/p>\n

Undoubtedly one of, if not the most famous luxury electric car, the Tesla Model S is also up there with the very best. It\u2019s a high-performance car capable of doing 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds<\/a> with a purely electric engine. Currently there are few other electric cars on the market close to rivalling that.<\/p>\n

With a top performance, stylish looks and next-generation technology that includes elements of self-driving technology, it really is a car for the future. Unsurprisingly, it doesn\u2019t come cheap for such quality, though it\u2019s well worth the value.<\/p>\n

Nissan Leaf SL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ranges on electric cars continue to improve, providing more options for those seeking an eco-friendly commuter car. The Nissan Leaf was one of the first electric cars available at an affordable price for many drivers when first produced back in 2010.<\/p>\n

Since then it has moved onto the second generation and the latest Nissan Leaf SL makes for a great city\/commuter car. A 150-mile range, compact size, cruise control and various other features confirm this and with a brand new price well under half that of a Tesla Model S it can be easier to afford.<\/p>\n

Chevrolet Bolt EV<\/strong><\/p>\n

For an even greater range for those with a longer commute or who want to have their charging times at a minimum, the latest Chevrolet Bolt EV boasts 238 miles on one charge. Holidays, visiting friends and family, going on a road trip, it\u2019s an environmentally friendly vehicle ready for anything.<\/p>\n

It also wastes even less energy with one-pedal driving. This enables you to slow down and even come to a complete stop by just lifting your foot off the accelerator. Less energy is wasted than braking, which can increase your range too.<\/p>\n

Toyota C-HR Hybrid<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not only pure electric vehicles that are environmentally friendly. If you want something that still packs plenty of power, then a hybrid SUV such as the Toyota C-HR could be an excellent investment. The hybrid 1.8-litre petrol engine makes it a great alternative to many of the diesel-led ones.<\/p>\n

A decent size makes it ideal for the school run as well as loading up for camping trips and other holidays. There\u2019s a range of different specs available<\/a>, with options including heated front seats and leather upholstery for those after a touch of class. The low CO\u00b2 emissions and enhanced fuel economy make it a worthwhile investment if you opt for a model without.<\/p>\n

Honda NSX<\/b><\/p>\n

This is a truly top-of-the-range hybrid. A 3.5-litre V6 engine might make you question whether it\u2019s an environmentally friendly car but considering it has a hybrid engine and compared to other vehicles in its class, it has to be classed as one. Even Guy Martin was converted by it, saying<\/a>: \u201cThe NSX is the next level. I can\u2019t think of any car that could keep up with it on my local lanes.\u201d<\/p>\n

It looks fantastic, drives magnificently and has an electric-running mode to silently cruise around in. A real head-turner with a green conscience, it may have a six-figure price tag but if you can afford that, it\u2019s money well spent.<\/p>\n
