We talk cars, dream passengers and road rage with Ireland AM presenter\u00a0<\/b><\/i><\/span>Ciara Doherty <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Your current car?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>A 06 Volkswagen Passat – I’ve had a run of bad luck with cars recently so when my father told me he was changing his 06 Passat I jumped at the chance. I knew it was reliable and wouldn’t leave me stranded on the roadside. That was a major plus.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Is a car important to you?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>It’s not a priority right now but that’s not to say I don’t look at garage windows and covet a newer flashier model.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

What does it say about you?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>Substance over style!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What do you use your car for?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>Travelling in and out of Virgin Media and escaping West at any given opportunity.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What sort of state is your car in (inside or out)?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>I swear it’s on the way to be valeted.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What’s in the boot and the glove compartment?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>In the glove compartment just the manual, the boot, however, is a different story. It’s like a second utility room.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How would you describe your driving, then?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>I think I’m a good driver, no points or tickets, but my husband would have a different opinion I fear.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Any bad habits?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>Patience is not a virtue I enjoy so I know on occasion I’ve pushed the green light.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever experienced road rage (either passively or actively)?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>I think we’re become more intolerant on the roads but bar the odd beep and the two-finger gesture I haven’t experienced real road rage from other drivers.\u00a0 I’m trying to become a\u00a0very calm, patient driver myself. I’m a work in progress let\u2019s say.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever had any romantic encounters in a car?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>A lady never kisses and tells.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What was your first car?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>A 04 Renault Megane that I bought myself on my 30th birthday. I thought I was driving a Porsche.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who taught you to drive?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>My father started the process in a shopping centre car park on Sunday afternoons at home in Letterkenny. If you don’t learn with your Dad in an abandoned car park, are you a driver at all?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Any driving test tales?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>It was my 30th birthday. I sat my test, passed and thought I’d entered adulthood. If I’d failed I wouldn’t remember that special birthday as fondly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favourite car gadget?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>No gadgets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What music do you listen to on the road?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>American country up loud and proud.\u00a0 I sing in the car and pretend I’m on a stage in Nashville.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dream drive in a dream location?<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>Oh so many. I drove Highway 61, the Mississippi blues trail, as part of our honeymoon last year and I’ll never forget it. Next year I’d love to travel the Big Sur and the following year the Garden Route in South Africa. The list is endless.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who would be your dream passenger?\u00a0 Why<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>My husband. He doesn’t judge my musical tastes or my voice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
