The UX 300e is the newest member of the UX compact SUV family that Lexus launched early in 2019<\/p><\/div>\n

What’s new?<\/strong> The Lexus UX 300e marks a first for the Japanese carmaker, a small crossover that runs entirely on battery power and is a blueprint for what’s to come. Lexus plans to launch 20 all-new or redesigned models over the next five years, including battery-electric, plugin hybrid electric and hybrid.<\/p>\n

Is it a looker?<\/strong> In a segment laden with similar-looking offerings the UX manages to stand out with a mix of elegance and chiselled styling and will turn plenty of heads Inside benchmark Lexus attributes of comfort, refinement and style are evident and it is a beautifully crafted interior and attention to detail is everywhere.<\/p>\n

How far can I go on a single charge?<\/strong> Powered by a 54.35kWh battery located under the cabin floor. the WLTP range is 300km on a single charge but on the road, this proves optimistic and is difficult to replicate<\/p>\n

How easy is it to charge?<\/strong> An AC charger port is located on the right-hand rear wing and a DC port for rapid charging is on the rear left side. Both have a push-release cover and an inlet lamp makes for easier connection when charging at night. Rapid DC charging takes about 50 minutes at 50kW to go from zero to 80%.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s it like inside?<\/strong> The coup\u00e9-like roofline means there is a compromise with space, so it’s a little cramped. On the flip side, it is so comfortable it is unlikely to be a deal-breaker. There is also 367-litre boot space.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s it like to drive?<\/strong> On the road, handling is responsive and it is well suited for daily driving with pacy acceleration and well-weighted steering.<\/p>\n

How safe is it?<\/strong> All versions of the UX 300e are fitted as standard with the second generation Lexus Safety System+\u00a0which helps prevent rear-end collisions, lane departures and collisions involving pedestrians.<\/p>\n

Will it break the bank? <\/strong>With a starting price of over \u20ac56k the UX is not cheap, particularly when compared to rivals with larger boots and better ranges.<\/p>\n

Our Rating?<\/strong> Overall, the Lexus UX 300e is a chic blend of engineering, technology and comfort and while the 10-year (or 1,000,000 km) extended battery warranty will go far to reassure hesitant EV buyers<\/p>\n
