What is it?<\/strong>
The BMW 1 Series is BMW\u2019s answer to the premium hatchback segment \u2014 compact, refined, and performance-oriented. The latest update brings sharper styling, improved tech, and mild-hybrid efficiency. We tested the 120 M Sport model, now slightly larger and more sophisticated, aiming to keep its dynamic edge intact.<\/p>\n

Styling<\/strong>
With bold design tweaks, the 1 Series now features sleeker headlights, a sportier front bumper, and more sculpted rear styling. Optional contrast roof colours and vibrant paint options add flair. At 42mm longer and 25mm taller than before, it maintains a compact profile while echoing cues from BMW\u2019s crossover range.<\/p>\n

Under the Bonnet<\/strong>
The 120 M Sport is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a smooth 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the front wheels. For more performance, the M135 offers a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. There\u2019s no diesel option available.<\/p>\n

The interior feels every bit the premium product, with heated front seats as standard and an upscale materials finish. The new twin-screen display merges a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 10.25-inch digital cluster. However, the traditional rotary iDrive controller has been removed in favour of full touchscreen controls, which may divide opinion. Rear legroom is fair, though headroom is limited for taller passengers. The boot offers 300 litres in the mild-hybrid model, expanding to 1,135 litres with the rear seats folded.<\/p>\n

And Safety?<\/strong>
BMW includes a solid suite of driver aids: lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, multiple airbags, and more. The tech stack makes it a safe and secure daily driver.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s less about flash, more about finesse \u2014 and that still resonates with enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
