\nFrom dehydration to sunburn – we just can’t cope with this heat! Suzanne Keane shares her top five heatwave must do’s<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Met Eireann has predicted that it’ll get hotter than 25C in some parts of the country this week.<\/p>\n

One thing is certain that we aren’t cut out for temperatures over 20 degrees in this country!<\/p>\n

Here are my\u00a05 tips below for surviving a heat wave<\/p>\n

1. Screenwash<\/strong><\/p>\n

99% of the time we get enough rain to clean windscreens. Screen wash is great for the odd emergency clean but its not until you’re out on the motorway, far away from services, with a bug covered windscreen that you will notice the washer bottle is empty! So check it before you set off….<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>2. Bugs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes those nasty smear marks that will cover the front of the car after any trip…. And without screen-wash you will end up with insect guts spread all over the windscreen! These aren’t really something you can prevent but be prepared to have to clean them off….<\/p>\n

3. Water<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bring plenty! Both you and the car will be grateful for it. The last thing you want is dehydration on a long trip so drink plenty of water – maybe consider packing some with an ice pack in the boot? But since you’re going to be so full of liquid plan a few extra pit stops along the way!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. Cool down<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are lucky enough to have air conditioning use it! Now is not a good time to be worrying about fuel consumption. If you’re like me and don’t – be prepared to bake!! Dress appropriately, open the windows fully when you’re passing through towns\/villages (less than 60kmph or you will be blown out of the car), drink twice as much water (that will probably be warm and disgusting) and have time for a shower or at least a change of clothes ready for when you get to your destination!! If you happen to have leather seats and don’t have air conditioning don’t even attempt a trip…. Just stay at home until our climate returns to normality.<\/p>\n

5. Sunglasses<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not only are they good for your eyes and save you from being blinded by sun but will hide those bleary and bloodshot eyes from too much sunbathing or late night beach parties!!<\/p>\n
