The New 500L MPW is available with 7 body colours and 9 bi-colour combinations<\/p><\/div>\n

The Fiat 500 has just got even bigger, we drive the new seven seater 500L MPW<\/i><\/b><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

What is it?<\/b>\u00a0The biggest member of the Fiat 500 family the new 500L MPW (multi purpose wagon), is essentially a 5+2-seater MPV but it \u00a0promises the charm of the 500 combined with a small car feel yet the space and the versatility of an MPV.<\/p>\n

First impressions of the new Fiat 500L MPW<\/b>. \u00a0\u00a0Aimed squarely at the family market, it\u2019s not the most stylish MPVs around but it\u2019s certainly eye-catching.<\/p>\n

<\/b>What about the interior? <\/b>According to Fiat their new <\/b>MPW has the best ratio of\u00a0interior-to-outside space of any vehicle in its class and inside it is spacious throughout with plenty of head, leg and shoulder room. \u00a0Despite being roughly the same size as the Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf the\u00a0Fiat\u00a0500L MPW\u00a0has a load volume of 638 litres which is 238 litres more than the 500L on which the MPW is based.<\/p>\n

\"mpw_2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And behind the wheel?<\/b>\u00a0 There are three engines to choose from, the 105hp 0.9 TwinAir petrol (6-speed manual); the 85hp 1.3 MultiJet (5-speed manual or 5-speed Dualogic automatic transmission) and the 105hp 1.6-litre MultiJet (6-speed manual). At the launch we had an opportunity to drive the 1.3 Multijet. <\/b><\/p>\n

Fiat 500L MPW in the city:<\/b>\u00a0 Around the city the compact proportions are immediately evident and it is agile and easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces and back streets. It is comfortable and smooth to drive but on bends it rolls a little and the 1.3 is a little sluggish and noisy when pushed.<\/p>\n

Fiat 500L MPW on the motorway<\/b>: At speed the 1.3 is quiet and refined and there is adequate power.<\/p>\n

How Much?<\/b>\u00a0Prices\u00a0start at \u20ac23,550 for the TwinAir 105hp Pop Star, while our test car the 1.3 MultiJet Pop Star starts at \u20ac24,300.<\/p>\n

How Safe?<\/b>\u00a0The 500L received a full five stars when crash tested by the EuroNCAP and there is no reason to believe the MPW version will not fare as well.<\/p>\n

\u00a0What about my options:<\/b>\u00a0The 500L MPW is available in two specifications, Pop Star and Lounge. The entry level Pop Star comes well equipped with\u00a0air conditioning; cruise control; 16-inch alloy wheels; a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect; six airbags; a full suite of stability and traction control safety systems as well as rear parking sensors.<\/p>\n
