When driving in Germany, you must obey the\u00a0rules.\u00a0Geraldine Herbert has some key advice<\/em><\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Germany is one of the few places in the world where drivers are allowed to decide for themselves how fast to drive, limited only by the car they are driving. But remember only about a fifth of the Autobahn is a no speed limit zone elsewhere the speed limits \u00a0are strictly enforced by the police.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Drink-drive limit is the same as in Ireland \u00a0at 50mg\/100ml.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When parking \u00a0in Germany you need to buy a blue parking disc (parkscheibe), available at service stations, and parking vouchers (parkschein). Parking meters are also common.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dont use Radar speed camera detectors as they are illegal in Germany. Penalties include fines of up to \u00a0\u20ac1500<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is an offence to run out of fuel on a motorway in\u00a0Germany<\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Its\u2019 also an offence to make rude signs to other road users.<\/p>\n

7)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must haves include Reflective jackets, Warning triangle \u00a0and Headlamp beam deflectors<\/p>\n

8)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There are no tolls levied on private cars.<\/p>\n

9)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During daylight, you must use dipped headlights or daytime running lights if your vision is impaired by fog, snow or rain.<\/p>\n

10)\u00a0\u00a0 When traffic is\u00a0congested, normal right-of-way rules gives way to the \u201czipper rule\u201d. It means vehicles from each lane must give way one at a time<\/p>\n
