Cars and clothes have more in common than you might think. Clothes aren\u2019t simply something to keep us warm \u2013 they make us feel special and express who we are. Similarly, our cars are much more than a way to get from A to B \u2013 they wrap us in a metal couture and are for many the essential lifestyle\u00a0accessory.<\/p>\n

Now the worlds of fashion and engineering are joining forces. Barbour and Land Rover sent models down a catwalk flanked by Range Rovers at the launch of the new Barbour for Land Rover collection this week. With Royal Warrants from the Queen, the Prince of Wales and Duke of Edinburgh, the Land Rover brand is a firm favourite with the Barbour-clad green-welly brigade, but this is the first time the two British icons have officially collaborated. This rustic-chic collection consists of jackets, knitwear, accessories and matching luggage for both men and women in two distinct styles.<\/p>\n

\"lr_2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Inspired by country traditions, Country Lux is a contemporary mix of tailoring and cuts, plus an exclusive tartan inspired by the British countryside. Along with Barbour\u2019s signature waxed and quilted jackets, the Country Lux collection also includes accessories and matching luggage \u2013 perfect for that weekend away. A second collection, Black Label, has a more modern, contemporary style and is designed with the urban dweller in mind. The collection is described as the more understated of the two and includes knitwear and jackets with a black gloss trim.<\/p>\n

Land Rover is not alone \u2013 fashion and car collaborations have long sired plenty of logo-laden leisure wear; clothing and accessories from Gucci styled Fiat 500s to McLaren, who has launched several clothing ranges, including one with Hugo Boss.<\/p>\n

Louis Vuitton has created a line of carbon fibre luggage specifically to fit the BMW i8, the much anticipated plug-in hybrid sports car arriving in Ireland this summer. Prices haven’t been revealed at this time but if you own the right car to nestle it in it’s probably not a consideration.<\/p>\n

Both ranges will be sold from\u00a0Barbour<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Land Rover<\/a>\u00a0outlets from August.<\/p>\n
