The white Honda CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC ES arrived like a white stallion in the driveway! To say I was excited about driving this is like saying that kids look forward to Christmas morning.<\/p>\n

The interior of this just screamed \u201cluxury\u201d to me! I love a leather steering wheel \u2013 which this had. Along with a leather gear stick.<\/p>\n

Let me start on the reversing. I\u2019m not used to driving an SUV and was wondering how I would manage getting it into the parking space. Turns out, reversing it was a doddle. The rear windows are big. Yup size matters! I thought the wing mirrors looked huge (think vanity mirror!) but they fit with the general dynamics of the car.\u00a0 Aside from a great-sized wing mirror, how could reversing be made even easier? By adding front & rear parking sensors and by putting a camera in the back of the car! As soon as you put the car into reverse, the camera brings up on the dashboard screen an image of what\u2019s behind you. There\u2019s even a on-screen grid so you easily see exactly how close you are to the bollard, the kerb or your auntie\u2019s favourite doggy. The rear view mirror doesn\u2019t block my view at all making it a bright interior for a very pleasant driving experience and that in turn helps cover all angles when parking. Not only could I have reversed my way happily through a tricky maze in this, I could have parked it in the most awkward spaces.<\/p>\n

Even though it has the look and feel of a big car, it manoeuvres incredibly easily. It is just an amazing , unfussy, easy drive.\u00a0 With a really comfortable drivers seat, I am quite convinced that I could have lived in this for the week.<\/p>\n

I love love loved the eco gadgetry. The Honda has an Eco Assist button. What does it mean? Turn on the Eco Assist and you\u2019ll be more economic with fuel. It indicates when you are driving in that sweet spot of fuel efficiency with the help of two little green \u201cbracket\u201d effect lights around the speedometer display. It became a carrot & stick for me to see if I could improve my driving to almost always be in the green bracket. (Less efficient driving and it glows a different colour)\u00a0 Even with the Eco Assist turned on , there\u2019s still great power to the car and my journey didn\u2019t feel at all sluggish because of it. The Eco Assist technology was named in the Green Car Journal\u2019s Top 10 Green Car Technology list for 2013.<\/p>\n

Hey presto, less money spent in the petrol station & you\u2019re doing your bit to be greener too.<\/p>\n

I drove the Honda CR-V on one of the hottest weeks of the year (I know, sunshine! It\u2019s a miracle!) With using the Air Con a lot and the engine idle at red lights & junctions, it was incredibly efficient on fuel despite my best efforts to use it up! All SUVs are clearly not the same & the fuel efficiency\u00a0 just blew me away.<\/p>\n

Got kids? Iso fix points in the back seat to easily clip that baby seat in? Wing mirrors automatically fold in when you lock the car, preventing any unnecessary knocks.<\/p>\n

Play golf or just pack too much stuff when you go away for the weekend? Great news as the boot is just colossal.The important questions are as follows..<\/p>\n

Would I give the girls a lift in this car? I would happily bring 4 adults with me on a long journey as even sitting slap bang in the middle of the back seat, there is loads of room as the usual hump behind the console isn\u2019t there, so maximum leg room for my gals!<\/p>\n

There are a lot of cherries on top of this Honda that I really liked. The lights auto-dim so you don\u2019t annoy oncoming cars if you forget to dim. Thumb dials were a very nice little touch. I liked how the gear was quite high up. And of course cruise control which saves my leg & the risk of penalty points! The final sweetener is that with such a big car, it\u2019s \u20ac200 tax p.a.<\/p>\n
