International Women’s Day (IWD) is a globally recognised day when we celebrate the achievements of women. To coincide with International Women’s Day, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is dedicating an entire week to showcasing and celebrating their diversity and philanthropy through a range of initiates and events .

Tuesday 5th March was the start of “Job Shadow Day” for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Five female branch managers swapped jobs with 5 senior managers who are in revenue generating roles. This included the Managing Director of Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Ireland, George O’Connor, swapping jobs with Caragh O’Shea, Branch Manager of Limerick and John Paul Denker, Group Rental Manager, swapping jobs with Ann Donohoe, Branch Manager of Drogheda and Cavan.

The idea is to give these women a sense of what it will be like running the company and learning from the experience along the way. This coincides with International Women’s day which is Friday 8th March and will be the last day of the shadowing project.

There are also 5 Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches running charity events to coincide with Diversity and Philanthropy Week.

1)The Longmile Road branch will be supporting Aware through a 50k relay run between 7 of their branches in Dublin. Throughout Diversity and Philanthropy Week they will be wearing Aware t-shirts and will be giving out flyers to raise awareness and funds for their upcoming run.

2) The Cork branch will be raising money for Pieta House through a charity car wash.

3)The Galway Branch will be raising money for MS Ireland and The Order of Malta through a charity ambulance push from Athlone to Galway.

4) The Drogheda branch will be filling an Enterprise car with balloons as part of a charity competition. People will have to guess how many balloons are in the car; all money raised will go to St Christopher’s Hospice and the Gary Kelly Cancer Centre.

5) The Dublin Airport branch will be raising money through a charity cycle.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car will also be supporting “Dress for Success” during Diversity and Philanthropy week. “Dress for Success” promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Enterprise will be providing a vehicle and driver on the 8th March at the RDS to help in collecting articles of clothing in celebration of International Women’s Day. Enterprise are also doing an internal suit drive for “Dress for Success” to help get them as much clothing as possible.

Leslee O’Loughlin, Group Human Resource Manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car said, “Gender diversity is a top priority at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  We understand that by developing female talent and ensuring women form a representative proportion at all levels of management, we are improving our organisation’s future sustainability. We aim to encourage women to realise their full potential and personal ambition, without concerns of glass ceiling restrictions. Our ‘Female Job Shadow’ event in aid of International Women’s Day aims to give our female employees the opportunity to see that it is possible to successfully fulfill a senior management role at the same time as balancing a life at home.”

George O’Connor, Managing Director of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Ireland, said “Initiatives such as our Job Shadow and our female mentoring programme are just some of the ways in which Enterprise Rent-A-Car works to retain and develop a diverse work force.  Enterprise is fully committed to ensuring that our female employees have every opportunity to develop the necessary skills to progress into senior leadership positions within the organisation.”
