Wheelsforwomen scooped the prize of Best Automotive blog at the 2015 Blog Awards
The Blog Awards Ireland celebrates the best in Irish blogging across a range of topics from food to Health and Lifestyle and recognises companies and individuals for their achievements. Wheels for Women, founded by Geraldine Herbert, picked up the award for the Best Automotive Blog.
Founded over three years ago wheelsforwomen.ie features honest, informative, and jargon-free car reviews, news and features, written by women for women.
For car enthusiasts there are a huge range of excellent review and information sites about new and used cars, magazines for car aficionados and discussion sites and groups for all kinds of cars. But there are not any motoring sites specifically geared towards women.
“ We want to give women a resource where car reviews and tips about keeping your car on the road can be understood by all from the petrol head to the first time buyer” says Geraldine Herbert “But we take care not to ‘pink it and shrink it’ we review all cars from Ferraris to Fiats, so just because your are women doesn’t mean you want a small car”,
Motoring Journalist Geraldine Herbert is the Contributing Editor (Motoring Supplements) and Motoring Columnist for the Sunday Independent, Irish Country Magazine and editor of Auto Ireland magazine. She is also a regular contributor to “The Last Word” on TodayFm, Newstalk Breakfast and presents the Motoring Mailbag monthly with Bobby Kerr on “Down to Business”.
Wheels for women also has a team of contributors including Suzanne Keane, a fountain of Motoring Knowledge and car restorer; Jennifer Mullan, a Formula Ford Racing Driver; Ruth Scott, 2fM DJ; Danielle Murphy, a European Champion Drifter; Aimee Woods, a Racing Instructor; Hannah Gordon, a car mechanic; Sinead Canny, a part time Rally navigator and Laura Keane stalwart of “Cars and Coffee”, the motoring social club.
