Women Experience Volkswagen

“We are the driving force for the future,” was the motto of the first “Woman Experience Day” held at Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg. 18 students and graduates of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and automotive engineering were invited to visit Wolfsburg and see the workings of Volkswagen first hand. The visit encourages the participants to engage with experienced engineers and personnel officers. In addition, the visitors were given a factory tour .
“With the Woman Experience Day ‘, we set an example for the special esteem in which the Volkswagen Group brings against women in engineering professions. More, we want to present ourselves as a potential employer, because we are building for the future more than ever on the know-how, creativity and commitment of female engineers, “said Elke Heitmüller, director of advancement of women at Volkswagen.

“Technical occupations are women becoming more popular, and engineering sciences are no longer a purely male domain,” said Maren Peters, Director of Personnel Marketing at Volkswagen. “We are pleased with the great popularity and the enthusiasm of the participants at this event.” You have to show that women engineers in the entire Volkswagen Group have excellent career and development opportunities.

The tech-savvy young women praised in particular the exchange with the Volkswagen employees. “I found it very exciting to me to share with engineers from Volkswagen and to learn first hand how women here are promoted in technical occupations”, Lena Wagner, the participant said, “Woman Experience Day”.
