Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so here are five cars to help bring out your romantic side writes Geraldine Herbert
It is that time of the year again and love is in the air. We reckon at wheelsforwomen nothing says “be mine” more than a romantic car so whether you are off for a weekend escape or a first date, here are our 5 cars of choice to sweep your valentine off their feet.
#1 Mazda MX-5
Jump in and drop the top, this brilliant little roadster is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and your passengers. With it’s sharp silhouette, large gaping grille and slim headlamp clusters, it’s a really striking car and a serious head-turner. It will negotiate backroads with reassuring ease while the gorgeous husky engine note contributes to your satisfied smile. Plus there is only room for two in this cosy little roadster.
#2 Maserati Quattroporte
Distinctive and exclusive the Quattroporte is an exercise in elegant sportiness. And if smoldering Italian good looks don’t seal the deal, the sound of the Ferrari-sourced V-8 engine should do the trick. Inside the driving position is supremely comfortable, whatever height you are and the cabin is as well-crafted as an Armani suit. Now that’s an Italian heartthrob that will add excitement to any date night.
#3 Tesla Model S
If you think electric cars are boring think again the Tesla Model S is about as sexy as going green gets. The Model S is a full-sized, five-door and Tesla’s first flagship product. As you approach with the key, the door handles slide out. Inside, there’s no starter button just place your foot on the brake and the car comes to life. Simply select drive and you are on your way. The top of the range P100D, comes with “ludicrous mode” which means it goes from zero to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds, so it will keep pace with a Lamborghini Huracan and a McLaren 650S and only the Koenigsegg One and the Bugatti Veyron are faster. Enjoy the ride.
#4Volkswagen CamperVan
For those wanting to wallow in delicious nostalgia, the VW camper van has to be one of the most characterful motors on the go. Long associated with hippies and surfers alike today these vans are making a comeback for romantic excursions in search of good vibes and groovy adventures.
#5 Toyota Hilux
Discover your inner cowgirl in the Toyota Hilux. This quintessential pickup truck has achieved iconic status for its quality, durability and reliability. Even Top Gear’s Clarkson couldn’t kill it despite it being drowned, torched, crashed and dropped from a great height. It may look rugged on the outside, but inside it is impressively comfortable, well equipped and quiet. All you need now is a map of the North Pole and a sense of adventure.
