Top 7 Fun Activity Ideas for Long Car Rides

Are you planning for a long road trip? You should consider that the back seat is usually boring if you don’t have a fun activity.
Some people could decide to spend their time playing their favorite game on an
online casino like Spin Casino, but that might not accommodate the underage passengers. As a result, you need to think about activities that will help you bond as a family and enhance your brainpower at the same time. Here are some excellent ideas of activities you could engage in to make your trip memorable.

State License Plate Game

If your trip will be on the highway gazing out the window all the way can be pretty dull. However, it creates an excellent environment for this car game. If your kids are with you on the trip, it will be a great game to practice geography, writing, memorization, among other skills.

In the game, you will check out license plates of nearby vehicles and try to find a minimum of one plate per state. The game begins with the passengers listing all the states. They can do this during the trip or before the trip. To make it more fascinating, find out if you can write all the states without looking them up.

Make several copies so that each passenger has their own. When you find a plate for a new state, you cross it off your list. The winner is the passenger that crosses the most or is the first to finish.

The Game of the Alphabet

If you will be traveling with your little kids, they will love this game. It will be a fun activity for them as they try to show how much they know. Your kids will try to find each letter of the alphabet from A to Z by checking out the street signs, license plates, truck logos, car artwork, or highway markers.

They must complete the alphabet in order meaning it becomes more enjoyable when you get to Q and Z. If it becomes easier or more challenging, you can agree to change the rules a bit. The kids can work as a team or compete against each other.

Mad Libs

Mad Libs is a game that has stood the test of time. The game can entertain passengers of all generations. You can buy a copy of Mad Libs at your preferred bookstore. You can also visit their site (madlibs.com) to get free downloads. You can also opt to download the Mad Libs App for iPhones and iPads.

The game will help your children practice language and terms. For instance, they can identify the distinction between an adjective and a noun.

 Create a Travel Journal

Before you travel, give your children a homemade travel journal. Every time you get into a new state, encourage them to draw a picture of something they see. They can also write the wondrous things they liked about the state. If you made a lunch or dinner stopover, ask them to write how it was. This will help you have a record of the right places you can visit again when you are in that area.

Alphabet Memory Game

The whole family should engage in this activity except the driver, who should focus on the road. In the game, one person starts a narrative with a noun that begins with the letter A. For instance, “I was in Arizona.” The next person in line will continue the story by adding a term that starts with the alphabet’s next letter. For example, “I went to Arizona with my baby.” The longer you can keep the narrative going, the more fun it will be.

This game will help the kids to exercise their memory and concentration. The older kids can record the story; then, you can try to see who can remember the whole story without referring to the journal on your way home.

Destination Wheel of Fortune

In this game, all the passengers select an activity they would like to do or see at the destination. You should put that thing in the form of a phrase. For example, “sampling the local food.” Then, the passengers will, in turn, try to guess one letter at a time to reveal what the answer is. The team that reveals the answer first wins.

It is an excellent way for your kids to learn to spell and reasoning. Parents can also use this chance to get to know what their children love to do.

Sewing cards

This game will help your kids practice excellent motor skills. You can buy these colorful cards at a craft store or toy shop. Parents can also opt to make them at home before the trip. The items you will need are colored yarn, a hole puncher, a thick plastic needle, and thin cardboard.

After that, the children will draw a picture of something they would like to sew on the cardboard. If they cannot draw, you can print it out from a website illustration. With the hole puncher, put holes around the outline of the picture. Place the holes one inch apart. On your trip, carry the cards plus the plastic needle and yarn.
