Tesla has finally unveiled its long-awaited electric crossover, the Model X, designed to shake up the luxury vehicle market writes Geraldine Herbert

1)   Its the world’s first luxury electric SUV and  the third vehicle produced by Tesla.

2)   With two electric motors it can travel 400 kms on a single charge  and carry seven people.

3)   Featuring rear “falcon-wing” doors that open up instead of out these were apparently inspired by Tesla Owner Elon Musk’s struggle to get his twins into infant cars seats.

4)   Inside, the 2015 Tesla Model X is a bastion of cutting edge technology  including an air filtration system that will protect customers from a biological attack with a “bioweapon defence mode”.

5)   In “ludicrous mode,” the car will sprint from 0 to 100 in a  neck-snapping 3.2 seconds!

6)   A lower-cost Model 3 is due to join the range at the end of  2017.

7)   The interior is exquisite and boasts the largest all glass panoramic windshield in production.

8)   The doors not only look funky but are equipped with smart sensors that can sense when the owner is approaching and open on their own.

9)   Space is abundant throughout and there are two boots, one at each end

10) The future is not cheap and according to Reuters  the newest Tesla will start at  $132,000.
