Jennifer Mullan’s Racing Diary – Winter Update

Formula Sheane Awards

Formula Sheane Awards

It’s been some time since my last blog as there is no circuit racing during the winter unfortunately so instead I have been preparing for the 2013 season.

In an bid to try and improve on last year I joined the gym in October. As these things do, the novelty wore off very quickly and I struggled to motivate myself to keep going come Christmas time.

My new years resolution was to give up the gym, well not really but it just wasn’t for me so I have now joined a running club along with being back at Football training for Sallins Celtic Ladies team instead.

Before Christmas I attended the Formula Sheane awards dinner in Wicklow where I picked up an award for sixth place in the Fun Cup Championship. It’s always great when you come home with something for your troubles as it spurs you on to aim for bigger and better things the following season.

Something else that held me back a little last year was a lack of confidence and the ability to know how to focus on the positives from every time I was in the car rather than the negatives so I attended a mind mastery course back in January held by PR expert Linda Keen. The course taught you how to use your unconscious mind more than your conscious mind, how to channel your thoughts and energy into the right areas when required at a race weekend or in fact at any time and also the importance of being relaxed.

The next thing to be worked on over the winter was the car. The chassis of my Formula Sheane had been painted red previously and it was starting to get very worn and dirty looking so it was time for a re-paint. We collected the car from Sheane Cars and brought it a little closer to home to strip it down to a bare chassis. The car came back from being powder coated a few weeks ago so the re-build has commenced.

This year I made my tenth annual trip over to Birmingham’s NEC for the Autosport show in early January. Over the years it has gotten smaller and smaller due to the economic downturn but it was still worth the trip to fill that motorsport void that appears over the winter.

That’s all for the moment, keep an eye on my newly launched website www.jennifermullanracing.com or follow me on twitter @jennifercmullan for any news until my next blog!
